Modern slavery statement

The Kiwanis Club of Croydon & the Modern Slavery Act

The Club welcomes the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the responsibility it places on all organisations to openly disclose the steps they are taking to prevent modern slavery at all levels in society. This statement is made on behalf of The Kiwanis Club of Croydon and its chartered members.

Strategy for addressing the risk of modern slavery

The Club has considered its strategy of implementing measures to combat this issue and has concluded that the way in which we procure goods and services is key to this. We are, therefore, in the process of producing a standardised set of procurement documents (supplier questionnaires, a supplier risk assessment questionnaire, and a procurement policy), which will serve to inform all potential suppliers of our position.

Due diligence

In order to assess the risk of modern slavery in our existing supply chains and to understand the operating context of the charity, Kiwanis Club of Croydon has started to conduct a detailed audit and risk assessment of our suppliers, which will be an ongoing process. We will take action to eliminate the risk of modern slavery where appropriate.

To embed an understanding of the issues of modern slavery across the charity, we have appointed a Modern Slavery Champion who will be ensuring that all club members and volunteers understand modern slavery as a human rights issue.

Our policies

The Kiwanis Club of Croydon will be implementing a set of policies that will govern our activities from recruitment to authorisation limits and procurement.

In order to address modern slavery, The Club has dedicated this Modern Slavery (MS) policy that will set out the clubs position in relation to modern slavery, indicating the requirements Kiwanis of Croydon and its members have on entering into contractual relationships with others and ensure the club, its members and volunteers are aware of their responsibilities in working to ensure modern slavery has no place in The Kiwanis Club of Croydon.
